The Centre was founded in May 2008 with assistance from the International Blue Cross in Kenya, the Kenia Project and private donations from Germany.

The Center is situated in Embu, a city in Kenya, about 120 km north-east of Nairobi, close to Mount Kenya. The exact location is approximately 10km outside of Embu, a small town called Runyenjes.
